It’s overly simplistic to say that quilting diva Alex Anderson "loves quilts." Alex Anderson loves quilters, and the feeling is mutual! Anywhere quilters go - classes, conventions, the internet, television -they can find Alex enthusing about great works of quilt design (some of them her own), encouraging quilters of every age and level of experience, and doing it all with thoroughly sincere joy.

Alex started quilting while studying fiber and design at San Francisco State University in the late ’70s, and that "love at first stitch" has burgeoned into a lifelong romance. She quilts, she designs, and she’s written
and published numerous books about various aspects of hand and machine quilting. But her real passion, she claims, is "to share my love of quilting with anyone who will listen." Sharing that love keeps her on the move! She attends and teaches at quilting seminars, usually as Bernina’s national spokesperson. Together with quilt artist Ricky Tims, she hosts the dynamic and popular "The Quilt Show" on the web.

Through her eleven years as host of HGTV’s "Simply Quilts," her teaching continues to reach millions of viewers. If you picture quilters sewing at home alone - isolated by the solitary work, think again! Textile artists love to come together, and wherever quilters are, that’s where Alex loves to be. She hosts quilting retreats and travels at breakneck pace to juggle her publishing and entertainment ventures with attending quilt festivals all over America. As Alex says, "We quilters do get around." Alex keeps her interaction with quilters as personal as possible. Through "The Quilt Show," friends and acquaintances keep up with her day-to-day travels and quilting adventures.
