Use this piece as a reference for choosing the RIGHT thread for you and your quilt project. Class will start with an in depth discussion on the differences in threads and also what needles to use with different thread choices.

Dear Friends,
We are off to Viking Convention and Bernina University and are we excited! We will have all kinds of great new ideas, new techniques, new projects and products we know you’ll love. We’ll be introducing them over the next couple of months and hope you’ll come in to see everything new we’ve got to offer.
We know how busy the upcoming months can be, and we’re planning our class schedule with you in mind. Most of our classes meet just one time, which we hope will be easy to plan around vacations and summer activities. Take a look at the following pages to see what tickles your fancy. Remember too, that we sometimes add classes after the newsletter is published, so you’ll want to visit our website to see what we’ve got cookin’!
Our Quilt of the Month projects have been met with lots enthusiasm! Our shoe-makers elves are busy pre-cutting everything while you sleep, so you can pick up a kit and just go home and sew. We’ve got our best "fabric ladies" picking out the fabrics and making the samples - we think all of them are real winners - and no cutting! We’ll continue to introduce a new project each month. Free demo sessions are planned each month for the 1st Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 am, 4:30 - 5:30 pm, and the 1st Saturday morning, 10:00 - 11:00 am to guide you in construction if you need help. There’s no membership necessary, you can take advantage of as many or as few as you’d like - come on in and take a look, just keep in mind the quantities are limited, so the early birds get the worms!
Hope to see you soon, The Viking Sewing Center Staff

We are an official drop-off site for Project Linus

Project Linus is a 100% volunteer, nonprofit organization, named after the security blanket-toting character in the Peanuts comic strip.

Project Linus has a two-fold mission:

First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers.":

Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

Project Linus has 406 chapters representing all 50 United States. As a result of the combined efforts of these dedicated "blanketeers," over 2,210.100 blankets have been donated to children in crisis since its formation in December of 1995.

Blanket Tips and Sizes:

Bernina Stitch Regulator is revolutionizing Free motion quilting!

The Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR) allows you to master in minutes what used to require hours of practice.
Consistent free-motion stitching is now easier than ever
thanks to this patented Bernina innovation.
What is BSR?
The BERNINA ® Stitch Regulator allows you to use a
"Straight Stitch" for free motion quilting, thread painting, bobbinwork, quilting, freehand appliqué, double needle, shadow work, raw-edge appliqué, Battenburg lace"Zigzag Stitch" for thread painting, freehand appliqué, raw-edge appliqué, Battenburg lace.
The BSR has two Modes of Operation which can be used with or without the foot control:
"Mode 1" needle stitches continuously; when fabric is at rest, needle keeps moving up and down very slowly. If stitching in place is desired, such as for free motion embroidery, select Mode 1.
"Mode 2" needle stitches only when the fabric is moved; when fabric is at rest, no stitches are taken and the needle comes to a complete stop.

The Bernina Stitch Regulator is available on several BERNINA models - come in for a test drive today!
